Sheriff Department

Sheriff Terry Crawford and the Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office have begun to assist with the Clean Rivers Program. This program is designed to clean the rivers, crossings, and the area that surrounds it. The Sheriff’s Staff along with county jail offenders are going to the river’s of Uvalde County and picking up trash and debris. The Texas Department of Transportation is assisting the Sheriff’s Department in collecting and disposing of the trash.

On 8-31-2006 the Sheriff’s staff cleaned the Frio River on Hwy 90 East at Knippa, and the Nueces River on Hwy 90 West. Approximately 20 cubic yards of trash was collected on this date.

The Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office has also begun to participate in the Adopt a Highway Program by adopting a two mile section on US 83 north and a second two mile section on SH 55 north.
