MINUTES
The Uvalde County Commissioners Court met in regular session on January 24, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Uvalde County Courthouse with the following members present:

Also present were County Treasurer Joni Deorsam, County Tax Assessor-Collector Maggie Del Toro, County Sheriff Terry Crawford, County Auditor Alice Chapman, and Road Administrator Wayne Everett.
The Court opened with the Honorable William R. Mitchell giving the invocation; the following proceedings were had:

CONSIDER AND ACT UPON APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

The minutes of January 10, 2005 were unanimously approved.
2. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON APPROVAL OF LEASE AGREEMENT WITH COMMUNITY COUNCIL OF SOUTHWEST TEXAS REGARDING ELDERLY NUTRITION CENTER:

The Court unanimously approved a Lease Agreement between the County and the Community Council of Southwest Texas regarding the building at 420 West Nopal used as the Elderly Nutrition Center. A copy of the lease is attached to these minutes.
3. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON REQUEST OF SHERIFF TO LEASE-PURCHASE PATROL VEHICLES:

The Court unanimously approved the advertisement for the lease purchase of two patrol vehicles for the Sheriff’s Department. This action was taken upon recommendation of a committee, which consisted of the County Judge, County Treasurer, County Auditor and County Sheriff. Funding will be made available by transferring $10,000.00 from the 2004-2005 jail equipment line item #10570335 and will be discussed further during the 2005-2006 budget session.
4. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON ADVERTISING FOR BANK DEPOSITORY BID:

The Court unanimously approved the advertisement for the County’s bank depository bids.
5. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON RESOLUTION OPPOSING UNFUNDED MANDATES:

· Second by Commissioner Bates
The Court unanimously approved a Resolution Opposing Unfunded Mandates. The resolution will be sent to the Texas Legislature in opposition to any bill that would create a new law, which would require funding to be absorbed by the County. A copy of the resolution is attached to these minutes.
6. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON ROAD ADMINISTRATORS REPORT:
No action was taken on the following activity report given by the Road Administrator Wayne Everett:
-Routine maintenance
-Cutting brush
-Received permits from Austin for bridge repair
-Core of Engineer permit being processed
-Construction on bridge at Montell estimated to begin the first of
February
7. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON LINE ITEM BUDGET AMENDMENTS:

The Court unanimously approved the line item budget amendments, per recommendation of the County Auditor. Copies of the amendments are attached to these minutes.
8. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON PAYMENT OF BILLS:

The Court unanimously approved the payment of bills.
9. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON PAYROLL APPROVAL:

The Court unanimously approved the payroll.
10. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON MONTHLY REPORTS:

The Court unanimously approved the monthly reports.
11. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON RESOLUTIONS/PROCLAMATIONS:
The Court approved a resolution in honor of Myrtle Bailey, with the meeting being closed in her memory.
With no further business, the Honorable William R. Mitchell adjourned the meeting of January 24, 2005.
